Meet Nicole - Experienced Therapist Specializing in Forensic Criminology and Mental Health Counseling

Hello and welcome! I’m Nicole, a dedicated therapist with a unique background in both psychological services and forensic criminology. With two Master’s degrees—one in Science and Psychological Services from Salem State University and another in Forensic Criminology from UMass Lowell—I bring a comprehensive understanding of both the clinical and legal aspects of mental health. My extensive experience working with adults and teens in diverse settings allows me to adapt my approach to meet each client’s unique needs.

Specialties and Therapeutic Approach

I specialize in providing therapeutic support for individuals dealing with complex mental health challenges, including substance abuse, anger management, and distress tolerance. I utilize a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Distress Tolerance. My goal is to empower clients to build on their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and achieve greater emotional balance.

In addition to individual therapy, I have experience facilitating group therapy sessions and providing crisis intervention. My approach is flexible, dynamic, and tailored to each client, whether I’m working with teens navigating challenging life transitions or adults managing high-stress situations.

Experience and Professional Background

Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of clinical and correctional settings, including leadership roles as a Mental Health Coordinator and Director of Mental Health Services at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility. I’ve also served as a Behavioral Management Mental Health Professional and Residential Clinician, where I provided therapeutic support for individuals in high-stress environments. My professional journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of trauma, stress management, and how to support clients facing significant life challenges.

I currently offer in-person sessions at our Portsmouth, Rhode Island office, providing a safe and welcoming space for clients to explore their emotions and work through personal challenges.
